Doesn’t each varietal of wine require its own unique stemware?

No.  We have been taught to believe that wine tastes better in a glass designed in a unique shape for different varietals, or at a minimum that we need a white wine glass, red wine glass or champagne flute to best enjoy the type of wine served in it.  That’s a great business model if you’re a wine glass producer, but it’s not great for the wine drinker’s budget!  What’s more important to the wine enthusiast — a cupboard full of glasses in all sizes and shapes, or a good supply of the “One for All” Gabriel-Glas universal wine glass and a collection of great bottles?

When it comes to Gabriel-Glas universal wine glasses, form follows function: The broader base of the bowl of the glass and the conical shape at the top of the glass allow for the “nose” of a wine, its top, middle and a base notes to emerge in the glass. At the same time the broader base of the glass offers more surface to air contact, the drinker gets “closer” to the wine with Gabriel-Glas.   The glass acts as a gentle decanter. What’s the difference between the Gabriel-Glas Gold Edition and the Gabriel-Glas StandArt?

The difference is approximately  2 oz (about 60 grams!) We offer two versions of the Gabrial-Glas, the StandArt glass, and the mouth-blown Gold Edition glass. The StandArt glass weighs about 150 grams and the mouth-blown Gold Edition is approximately  3.17 ounces (90 grams.)  The StandArt glass is perfect for everyday use, while the Gold Edition glass is a must-have for special bottles and top Champagne.

What makes the Gabriel-Glas Gold Edition glass special?

The Gold Edition takes the gold medal for offering the ultimate wine drinking experience!  It’s top drawer, truly “noble,” first in class, so we gave it the appropriate title. The “lighter than air” Gold Edition glass weighs approximately 3.17 ounces (90 grams) and offers the greatest expression of any wine you choose to drink.  Lead-free crystal and dishwasher-safe, enjoy the ultimate drinking experience of your favorite wine served in the Gold Edition Gabriel-Glas.

Why the name StandArt for less expensive Gabriel-Glas?

We often get asked, “Shouldn’t it be called Standard?” When  naming our budget-friendly Gabriel-Glas, René Gabriel consciously created the word “StandArt.” While “standard” generally means the norm or defines normality, the StandArt Gabriel-Glas is hardly standard and is a work of art. And thus, it deserves to be called “StandArt.“

Dishwasher Safe Crystal? What's the catch?

The “One for All” Gabriel-Glas is strong by design. Each glass is seamless, one piece of crystal with no stress points (e.g. at the base of the bowl, or base of the stem-like many other glasses).  Gabriel-Glas is safe in your dishwasher!  So invite your friends over and don’t worry about hand washing all those glasses.  Save time, space, and money!  Simplify life!

Having said that, not all dishwashers, dishwasher loaders, and dishwasher soaps and water quality are appropriate.  We cannot guarantee that your glasses won’t be broken in a dishwasher.   Please exercise caution when handling your crystal glasses and loading your dishwasher so other items don’t bang against them!

What is Lead-Free Crystal?

Historically lead was used as a component in fine glassware.  More recently many glass producers have replaced lead with barium oxide, zinc oxide or potassium oxide in part out of concerns over possible health impact from leaded crystal.  Lead-free crystal is safe for dishwashing while leaded crystal will dull with dishwashing.

My glass broke. What are my options?

Although very durable, Gabriel-Glas is not unbreakable.  We do not replace glasses that have been broken after use.

If you receive delivery of Gabriel-Glas and they have been broken in transport, please do the following:

  1.  Take photos of all broken products damaged in transport
  2. Take photos of the inner and outer packaging to demonstrate damage in transport
  3. Immediately email our office upon receipt of the damaged item(s) and provide us with the supporting photographs and proof that you purchased the items directly from Gabriel-Glas North America LLC.
  4. Once we have received all of the above we will replace any broken items.  We do not replace Gabriel-Glas purchased through other resellers.

May I return Gabriel-Glas?

All sales are final.  We do not accept returns.  In some rare instances, we will arrange for an exchange of items or a credit toward a future purchase.

What are the Weights and Dimensions of Gabriel-Glas?

Both the Gold Edition and the StandArt glass are approximately 9” tall and 4” wide at the widest point of the bowl.  The StandArt glass weighs about 150 grams, the Gold Editon glass weighs a little more than 3 ounces (although there can be variances in the weight and dimensions of the Gold Edition glass given its mouth-blown artisanal nature.)

What’s the recommend fill for Gabriel-Glas?
We recommend a 5oz pour in Gabriel-Glas, although many of our winery partners and wine “tasters” prefer a smaller pour.

We ship all orders within the US via UPS Ground. Given nationwide shipping delays, your order may take up to 8 days to arrive.
